Liposuction with Tummy tuck

Book an Appointment

What is a Tummy tuck?

A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the abdomen. During a tummy tuck, excess skin and fat are removed from the abdomen. In most cases, the connective tissues in the abdomen are tightened as well. This surgery flattens the abdomen by removing extra fat and skin, and tightening muscles in your abdominal wall.

Who can get a Tummy tuck done?

  1. If you have a weak lower abdominal wall.
  2. If Liposuction didn't adequately improve the appearance of your abdomen.
  3. If you previously had a C-section and have retracted scarring.
  4. If you've got too much flab or excess skin in your abdomen that doesn't respond to diet or exercise.

Types of Tummy tuck:

  1. Complete Abdominoplasty:
There is an incision from one end of the hipbone to the other. The surgery will involve moving your belly button. Abdomen muscles are tightened and excess skin is cut and sutured.
  2. Partial or mini Abdominoplasty:
Mini-abdominoplasties are often done on people whose fat deposits are located below the navel. During this procedure, the surgeon most likely will not move your belly button, and the procedure may only take up to two hours.

Downtime:
A tummy tuck is a surgical procedure that will require 2-3 weeks to heal. The technique includes an incision, so it is normal to have moderate pain during these first several days, although this will steadily improve.

Post surgery the patient will be counseled to avoid heavy weight lifting, or to involve in strenuous activities.

Walking is however advised.

Side effects:

  • Pain
  • Suture mark

Notes:

  • Tummy tuck is usually done in association with liposuction.
  • A healthy lifestyle which includes appropriate diet and regular workout will help in maintaining the results achieved.
